Meaning of Zakat

Zakat according to language are: At Thaharah (sacred), religion (developing), and Al Barokah (blessing). Meanwhile, according to the religious term is a certain level of a treasure that has been required by Allah SWT to be distributed to mustahiqqin (the person entitled to receive Zakat). And can also be interpreted as an act to issue a certain level of a treasure itself to those who are entitled.

While mustahiqqin is as is mentioned in the Qur'an surrah At-Taubah verse 60: "real charity that is just for the - the indigent, people - the poor, amil zakat, which softened his heart (converts), to (memerdekan) slave, to (liberate) people who owe, to the way of God, to those who are on the way (the traveler), as an obligation from Allah, and Allah is knowing, Wise ".

Zakat is the third pillar of the five pillars of Islam. He was charged to people - people who are able to give to people in need. Zakat is a worship maaliyah (related to the property) that can be used by a servant to draw closer to Allah SWT. if someone servants fulfilled perfectly in accordance with the rules of the true, sincere and purely just looking for Allah’s sattisfied, there is no intention to praise them, it will be because liberation from the punishment of hellfire, and enter into heaven, as has been confirmed verses - Quran and Hadith Nabawiyya. (Al fiqh al-Waadhih min al-Kitab wa al-Sunnah. the first Juz page
464).

This is the vertical dimension of charity, namely as a means to establish a spiritual relationship to God (hablumminalloh). While the social aspect of charity lies in the spirit of social concern that became the primary mission of this service. As religion goodness for all creature in the world, Islam is very firmly to the problems of charity, therefore people are reluctant to pay zakat to reject the attitude judged as an apostate from the religion of Islam and must be fought.
